Emirati Spaces

Architecture & Design

Architectural concepts that translate traditional Emirati spaces into contemporary experiences with a humanistic approach.

Cafeterias are symbols of Emirati street food and are often social hubs for all nationalities to gather together whether it’s for a cup of tea or a bite.

The space however still lacks the platform for physical and architectural experiences in a social context. This design aims to propose a solution to this issue.

The UAE suffers from extreme weather conditions in the summer where temperatures reach 50 degrees celcius during the day.

Pedestrians in the cities need constant access to shelter to cool down under the sun. This design borrows the traditional wind-catcher technique to provide additional wind cooling for visitors.
